When it comes to Facebook and brands I’ve seen people select one of two options. They either setup their brand on Facebook using a “Profile” page or a “Fan” page. When brands use Profiles to setup their accounts they are extremely limiting the amount of information and exposure to their brand. In order for someone to be associated with your brand is that they will have to “Friend Request” your profile. This will take time and is limited by the time it takes the owner to accept the friend request. Along with that is that the number of “friends” you can have on Facebook is limited to 5,000 people. Once you reach that number all subsequent people are stuck in a sort of friend requested limbo until some people “de-friend” you.

A much better approach would be for you to setup what use to be called a “Fan Page”. This gives you almost an unlimited amount of options in terms of customization. You can have whatever tabs you would like on the top that can be seen by the general public. Also, since your page is indexable by Google, your brand can be found through your Facebook page in search results. You’re also not limited by the number of people who can “Like” your page (use to be “Fans” but Facebook recently changed this).

Choosing pages instead of Facebook account profiles is a much better choice and the one that should be taken. Don’t limit the number of people who can pass the idea of your brand to others!

How do you give presentations, sales pitches or training programs in several places at the same time without having to travel at all? By using online video presentations or video training programs, you can be in multiple places at one time, all while you are in your home location shooting the next installment of the series. Not only can you reach many more people this way, but you save money for the company in the process. Read more about online video.
